VODvision platform

VODvision is an operational platform for push-TV services, from content ingestion to the set-top-box that will revolutionise the TV business. It can operate with any one-way or two-way network and be integrated with any industry standard CA- and DRM-solution.

With VODvision platform the operator can manage the flow and scheduling of all content, VOD and virtual channels, as well as the total TV service and consumer environment.

The solution is divided into three major functional areas:

  • The VOD service planning and management (The VODvision Service Manager)
  • The conveying mechanism from head end to the household (VODvision Content Packager/TS generator, VODvision IP Server and VODvision Broadcast interface)
  • The consumer environment (The VODvision STB client and user interface)

Design

The design philosophy is supporting long term flexibility and cost efficiency, based upon cornerstones such as:

  • Standard technology and components are used wherever possible, in order to reduce time and costs for service up grades.
  • The signal distribution "backbone" is usable in a transparent fashion regardless of type of network and independent upon commercial terms for the consumer offerings.
  • Business rules are separated from the signal distribution. Business related information is entered and distributed from one single point, in order to maximise flexibility and avoid ambiguity.
  • Standard functions that can be purchased from third parties are part of the VODvision functionality but not part of the deliverables.

As new TV services evolve and become accepted by the consumers. VODvision is flexible and cost efficient to upgrade and adapt.
